In the 2 quarter of 2008 both second – tier banks and JSC «Kazpost» performed 32 982 thousand transactions to the sum of 23 755.5 billion KZT with the application of payment instruments presented in Table 1. In whole the use of various payment instruments has been increased. Compared with the similar period of the previous year the volume of transactions increased by 12.7% and the value of payments increased by 25.4%.

The increase of total volume of payment instruments was mainly specified the increase of volume of payment cards operations by 4 343.6 thousand transactions. The increase of payment value was substantially caused by the growth of payments value performed with payment orders by 5 149.3 billion KZT.

As before, payment orders and payment cards are the payment instruments used most commonly on the territory of Kazakhstan. Herewith the average value of one payment orders in the 2 quarter of 2008 came to 2.8 million KZT and compared with the same period of last year has increased by 20.6%. At the same time, a high specific weight of payment cards on the volume of payments and a low specific weight on value of payments are due to the use of this payment instrument primarily for withdrawal of small sums of cash (the average amount of one cash withdrawal transaction for the 2 quarter of 2008 came to 21.1 thousand KZT).

In the 2 quarter of 2008 payment request-orders and collection orders are used the least frequently. The insignificant part of use of given instruments in total volume and value is caused by their specificity.

Other payment instruments include checks for goods and services, direct debits of bank account and executed bill credits.
