In  the  4 quarter  of  2007 both  second – tier  banks  and  JSC  «Kazpost» performed  36 352.7 thousand transactions to the sum of 24 101.3 billion KZT with the application of payment instruments presented in  Table 1. In whole the use of various payment instruments has been increased. Compared with the similar period of the previous year the volume of transactions increased by 21.5% and  the value  of payments  increased by 29.8%.

The increase of total  volume of  payment instruments was mainly specified the increase of volume of  payment cards operations by  5 456.0  thousand transactions. The increase of payment value was substantially caused by the growth of payments value performed with  payment orders by 5 337.5 billion KZT.

As before, payment orders and payment cards are the  instruments used most commonly on the territory of Kazakhstan. Herewith the average value of one payment orders in the 4 quarter of 2007 came to 2.5 million KZT and compared with the same period of last year has increased by 22.8%. At the same time, a high specific weight of payment cards on the volume of payments  and a low specific weight on value of payments are due to the use of this payment instrument primarily for withdrawal of small sums of cash (the average amount of one cash withdrawal transaction for the 4 quarter of 2007 came to 21.8 thousand KZT).

In  the  4 quarter  of  2007 payment request-orders and collection orders are used the least frequently. The insignificant part of use of given instruments in total volume and value is caused by their specificity.

Other payment instruments include checks for goods and services, direct debits of bank account and executed bill credits. Compared with the  4 quarter  of  2006 the increase of volume of this payment instruments was mainly specified the increase of volume of direct debits of bank account by 14.5 %. The increase of this payment instruments value was substantially caused by the growth of   checks for goods and services payments and executed bill credits value performed with  by 19,8%.
