The National Bank of Kazakhstan informs that within the framework of the development of the domestic stock market from 10 August 2020 the international payment line between Central Securities Depository JSC and settlement system of the International Central Securities Depository Clearstream has been improved to the Delivery versus Payment type for notes of the National Bank of Kazakhstan and government securities of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Delivery versus Payment standard assumes that payment for delivery is carried out simultaneously with the transfer of securities, which reduces risks for the parties involved and is in line with international best practice. The transition to this settlement standard will have a positive impact on the liquidity of the domestic government securities market and will contribute to the further development of the stock market.

Earlier, in July 2018, the National Bank, together with the Central Securities Depository JSC and Clearstream, implemented the possibility of performing settlements on government bonds in the Clearstream system of the Free of Payment type, which was another step towards simplifying the access of international investors to the Kazakhstani stock market.
