In January, annual inflation slowed down in most regions of Kazakhstan

In January 2024, annual inflation slowed down to 9.5% (9.8% in December 2023). In terms of regions, annual inflation slowed down in 15 regions, while in 3 regions it accelerated and in 2 regions it remained unchanged.

The highest values of annual inflation were recorded in Karaganda, Mangystau, Atyrau and East-Kazakhstan regions.

Growth pace of food products in January slowed down to 8.2% YoY (8.5% in December 2023). The highest increase in prices for goods in this group was observed in Ulytau region (11.3%), while the lowest was in Shymkent city (5.9%).

Growth rate of prices for non-food products decelerated to 8.6% YoY (9.1% in December 2023). The maximum value was recorded in Mangystau region (12.9%), while the minimum was in Aktobe region (7.1%).

Prices for paid services in January slowed down to 12.3% YoY (12.4 % in December 2023). At the same time, prices rose significantly higher than the national level in Turkestan region (at 17.3 %) and significantly lower in Kyzylorda region (9.5%).

In January, growth of monthly inflation in the country amounted to 0.8%, which is higher than the historical average (0.6% in January 2017-2021).
