On inflation trends in the regions of Kazakhstan in August 2023

The National Bank of Kazakhstan published data on inflation trends in the regions of Kazakhstan.

In August 2023, the country’s annual inflation slowed down and made 13.1% (14.0% in July). In terms of regions, inflation decelerated in all 20 regions.

At the same time, monthly inflation in the country during the reporting period amounted to 0.7%.

The highest values of annual inflation were recorded in Akmola region, Astana city and North-Kazakhstan region.

Growth pace of food products in August slowed down to 12.4% YoY (13.5% in July). The highest increase in prices for goods in this group was observed in Astana city (16.2%), while the lowest was in Shymkent city (9.7%).

Growth rate of prices for non-food products decelerated to 13.5% YoY (15,0% in July). The maximum value was recorded in Astana city (16.2%), while the minimum was in Ulytau region (9.6%).

Prices for paid services in August increased to 13.9% YoY (13.6% in July). At the same time, prices rose significantly higher than the national level in Aktobe region (at 17.4 %) and significantly lower in Astana city (9.5%).
