Launch of Service to Issue Electronic Certificates for Exchange Rates and Base Rate

Starting from September 30, 2021, the National Bank of Kazakhstan (NBK) is launching a pilot service for issue of electronic information on exchange rates and base rates. The system is intended for government agencies, individuals and legal entities and is available in the Electronic Certificates section of the NBK web portal.

The service streamlines a process of providing statistical data and significantly cuts time to get electronic certificates. If earlier it has taken an average of 2 to 5 business days to obtain information in hard copy, the new system will issue necessary information instantly.

With the new service, users will be able to get the following information:

- a certificate on daily official rates of the national currency vs. foreign currencies for a selected date or period;

- a certificate on official exchange rates of the national currency vs. foreign currencies on average per month;

- a certificate of a size of base rate (official refinancing rate) of the NBK for a selected date or period;

- informational message about official exchange rates of foreign currencies vs. the national currency fixed for a certain date.

No registration on the web portal is required to obtain electronic certificates; their authenticity is confirmed by a QR code of a document.

We would like to point out that the service is an extra way to obtain statistical information. Individuals and legal entities still can apply to the NBK for get hard copy certificates within a timeframe fixed by laws.

When issuing electronic certificates, information on exchange rates is available on a daily and monthly basis from January 1, 2010 for foreign currencies for which the NBK sets an official tenge exchange rate. Base rate data have been available since January 1, 2001.
