The representatives of National Bank of Kazakhstan discussed the Digital Tenge Project and the engagement opportunities with the financial market participants.

The discussion meeting was attended by 60 participants, including the representatives of financial organizations and international experts in payments processing. The participants were presented a breakdown of world practice, the participation requirements in regard to the pilot project, and the plans to engage with the financial market to create new financial products on the digital tenge platform were presented.

Given the spread of technology and payments, the Digital Tenge has the potential to become a new payment tool in addition to the existing cash and non-cash payments. The Digital Tenge is intended to enhance competition in the payment services market, accelerate development of innovative services for the public, and to raise financial inclusion across regions.

Currently, central banks around the Globe implement the projects associated with establishment and launch of the Central Bank Digital Currency.

National Bank of Kazakhstan is committed to continue public discussion of the project progress with the public and the financial market players, and to publish the project outcomes in the media.
