On Inflation Trends in Kazakhstan’s regions in October 2022

In October 2022, annual inflation in the country accelerated to 18.8% (17.7% in September). In terms of regions, annual inflation sped up in 19 regions, and in one region (Ulytau Region) it remained unchanged at 19.6%.

The highest values ​​of annual inflation were recorded in Mangystau Region (22.7%), Astana (21.8%) and Akmola Region (19.9%).

Growth pace of foodstuff prices soared to 23.1% YoY in October (22.2% in September). Maximum surge of prices for goods of this group was reported in Mangystau Region (30.8%).

Growth rates of prices for non-food products accelerated to 17.9% YoY (17.0% in September). Maximum value was reported in Astana (28.7%), minimum – in Almaty Region (15.1%).

Prices for paid services in October grew by 13.5% YoY, while prices rose significantly above the national level in Almaty (17.5%), significantly lower in Aktobe Region (9.7%).

In October 2022, monthly inflation in the country made 1.6%, which is significantly higher than the average October inflation for the past 5 years (0.7% for 2017-2021).

In all regions, prices rose above the historical average in October 2022. The highest value of monthly inflation was reported in Shymkent (2.3%).
