Description of 2006 series banknote 1000 Tenge
Size: 134mm х 70 mm. Predominant colour is yellow-brown.
Obverse: The images are vertical. In the center is the Astan-Baiterek monument. In the middle of the banknote a fragment of music of the Kazakhstan National Anthem is printed in white on light brown and dark brown stripes. Over the music is the white outline of the value numeral. To the left of the monument the Kazakhstan National Emblem is printed in brown. The Kazakhstan National Flag is on the top right of the note. On the lower half of the note is an open hand. The face value, in Kazakh script, is shown vertically in the lower left corner. The name of the issuing bank, in the Kazakh language, is placed vertically in the lower right corner, above the name is an inscription in the Kazakh language stating that counterfeiting banknotes is against the law.
Reverse: The images are horizontal. The main image is an outline map of Kazakhstan. In the foreground is the President Culture Center, and in the background are mountains. The value numeral is shown both on the lower left corner and upper right corner. The face value, in Russian script, is shown in the middle on the lower half of the note. The name of the issuing bank, in the Kazakh language, and the bank’s logo are in the middle of the upper half of the note. In the top left corner, on the white area, is an inscription in Russian stating that counterfeiting banknotes is against the law.

Size: 144mm x 69 mm. Predominated colours are green and blue.
Obverse: The main image is a portrait of the great philosopher, thinker and scientist Al-Farabi (870-950). On the left is the inscription "National Bank of Kazakhstan". To the left of the portrait is a watermark profile of Al-Farabi and the value numeral “1000”. On the bottom, to the right of the portrait, is a hidden numeral "1000" which can be seen when viewed horizontally at eye level. To the right of the portrait the asymmetric serial number is printed vertically in red ink. Top left of the portrait the asymmetric serial number is printed horizontally in black ink.
Above the horizontal serial number is the text "Банкноттарды қолдан жасау заңмен қүдаланады". To the left of the portrait is the denomination in both numbers and text. Below this is the signature of the Governor of the National Bank of Kazakhstan together with the year of issue of the banknote.
Reverse: The main image is part of Hodja Ahmed Yassavi's mausoleum. To the right of the mausoleum is the denomination in both numbers and text. Top right if the note is the text: "Подделка банкноты преследуется по закону" ("Counterfeiting banknotes is against the law").

Size: 144 mm x 69 mm.
Obverse: In the centre of the note, in red, is the denomination in both numbers and text. Under the value numeral is the signature of the Governor of the National Bank of Kazakhstan and the date of issue.
On the right of the note is the portrait of the great philosopher and thinker of the East, Al-Farabi, and beneath the portrait his name and dates of his birth and death. To the right of the portrait is a grave ornament.
In the middle left side of the banknote is a watermark of the portrait of Al-Farabi, framed by a continuous tracery of Kazakh ornamentation. To the right of the watermark is the state emblem of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The serial numbers are printed vertically in red ink along right edge of the note, and horizontally in black ink above the state emblem. That serial numbers consist of a two-letter prefix and seven figures.
Reverse: The main image is part of Hodja Ahmed Yassavi's mausoleum. On the bottom right, under the watermark, the value numeral is printed in two colours.

In accordance with Regulations of Governing Body of the National Bank of Kazakhstan No. 377 dated 29.09.2001 “On Replacement of Banknotes of National Currency of the Republic of Kazakhstan” and No. 68 dated 25.07.2006 “On Replacement of Banknotes of National Currency of the Republic of Kazakhstan” the banknote of 1000 tenge of 1994 series and 1999 series ceased to be legal tenge.
Banknotes of 1994 series are accepted till 31 October 2013 by all by all branches of the National Bank of Kazakhstan and after confirmation of its authenticity by expertise are exchanged for banknotes and coins in force. Second level (commercial) banks accept the notes for further passing to the branches of the National Bank for expertise.
Banknotes of 1999 series are accepted till 14 November 2018 by all by all branches of the National Bank of Kazakhstan and after confirmation of its authenticity by expertise are exchanged for banknotes and coins in force. Second level (commercial) banks accept the notes for further passing to the branches of the National Bank for expertise.
Governing Body of the National Bank of Kazakhstan has a right to prolong prescribed term of acceptance and exchange of banknotes of old series
